摘要: Study objective To investigate the possibility of sex specificity for association obesity and asthma using measures body mass index (BMI) waist circumference (WC). Design Cross-sectional study adults (n = 2,057) living in Humboldt, SK, Canada 2003. Setting A rural community. Measurements Ever-asthma was defined as lifetime physician-diagnosed asthma, recent diagnosed by a physician during past 12 months. BMI WC were objectively measured. Results Among participants, 5.6% men 10.0% women reported having ever-asthma, 2.7% 6.0% had respectively. Higher levels both significantly associated with but not men. The adjusted odds ratios at least 30.0 kg/m 2 relative to 2.06 (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.42 4.05) ever-asthma 3.47 CI, 1.64 7.32) asthma. Conclusions Our demonstrated that increased risk only significant even when measured, this robust anthropometric measures.
