摘要: Size of breast cancer is essential in staging to determine type and extent patient management. This study was conducted assess accuracy estimating tumor size by MRI gross using microscopy as gold standard. A retrospective done on 33 patients, 30-75 years, who underwent breasts with subsequent lumpectomy, 2002-2006, for invasive cancer. lesion(s) were compared histological size. Of 37 lesions, 27 (73%) ductal (IDC) 10 (27%) lobular carcinoma (ILC). Tumor matched 3%, underestimated 27%, overestimated 70% cases. 22%, 57%, 22% an imaging modality pathology both have significant limitations measuring particularly cases carcinoma. Random sectioning lumpectomy specimen may result inaccurate leading false impression multi-focality and/or multi-centricity ILC. Microscopic measurements are necessary accurate T-staging recommended appropriate
