Differences between individuals high and low empathy investigated. parameters compared reactions, represented by electromyographic (EMG) activity, when exposed to pictures angry or happy faces. present study distinguished spontaneous expressions associated with more controlled modulated emotions at different information processing levels, first a preattentive level then consecutively consciously levels: 61 participants three exposure times (17, 56, 2350 ms). A significant difference high- low-empathy emerged short (56 ms), representing automatic, high-empathy showing mimicking reaction. did not display any time. On contrary, showed, response faces, tendency elevated activation cheek region, which often is smiling.
