Diagnoses Under Consideration—Self-Defeating and Depressive Personality Disorders: Current Status and Clinical Issues

摘要: In this article, we discuss the DSM-III-R self-defeating personality disorder and DSM-IV depressive disorder. Descriptions of empirical studies on DSM conceptualizations these two disorders are provided, along with descriptions from various theoretical perspectives. Although have not been formally recognized in diagnostic nomenclature, clinical findings suggest that consideration treatment strategies for is warranted. Issues differential diagnosis, transference countertransference, appropriate interventions throughout course psychotherapy addressed. A case study presented to illustrate assessment considerations. Recommendations future research also provided.
