摘要: Abstract The atmospheric Cherenkov telescope MAGIC for ground-based gamma-ray astronomy is operating since late 2003 on the Canary island of La Palma. Its 17 m diameter mirror composed 964 square all-aluminum mirrors ∼ 0.5 m side, making up a parabola 236 m 2 area. Each sandwich two thin aluminum layers interspaced by honeycomb structure that ensures rigidity, high temperature conductivity and low weight. surface each raw blank diamond milled to provide reflectivity slightly different focal length fit overall parabolic shape reflector. We report about stability performance exposed atmosphere over 3 years. For construction clone first telescope, dubbed II, major improvements design reflective were required. Given good experience with mirrors, similar assembly was tested, but area increased 1 m , which allowed skip inter-alignment four within panel reduce substantially rigidity unit resulted in an improved focussing quality. In addition, second class will be installed outermost part reflector, namely glass obtained cold-slumping replica technique. Details both type II new reflector presented.
