Hydration in aqueous solutions of ectoine and hydroxyectoine

摘要: We explore the influence of two osmolytes ectoine and hydroxyectoine on structure pure water aqueous NaCl solutions using non-resonant X-ray Raman scattering spectroscopy at oxygen K-edge. Both are naturally occurring organic synthesized by halophilic organisms that live in high-salt other extreme environments. find spectroscopic data K-edge consistent with a scenario where both affect hydrogen bonding network local scale to effect increase tetrahedral order. This supports proposed stabilizing mechanism for proteins: preferential exclusion from proteins' surface hydration macromolecules instead complex alterations bulk scale. The water, disruption bonds order, acts opposition localized water-binding effects hydroxyectoine. For ternary mixtures osmolyte presence NaCl, seen spectra found be additive such mixed solutes generate level oppositional frustration network.
