摘要: After an introduction to what is required of a high-performance permanent magnet material, brief description given the Concerted European Action on Magnets, unique cooperative research programme which involves more than fifty participants (a third them industrial) from nine countries in EEC. There follows account recent progress understanding intrinsic magnetic properties Nd2Fe14B, and other isostructural compounds solid solutions. Finally some directions search for new iron-rich phases with high Curie point uniaxial anisotropy are indicated.
