Real-time data monitoring for ulcerative colitis: patient perception and qualitative analysis.

摘要: Background/Aims: TrueColours ulcerative colitis (TCUC) is a comprehensive web-based program that functions through email, providing direct links to questionnaires. Several similar programs are available, however patient perspectives unexplored. Methods: A pilot study was conducted determine feasibility, usability and perceptions of real-time data collection (daily symptoms, fortnightly quality life, 3 monthly outcomes). TCUC adapted from for patients with relapsing-remitting bipolar disorder, using validated UC indices. semi-structured interview developed audio-recorded face-to-face interviews were after 6 months interaction TCUC. Transcripts coded in NVivo11, qualitative analysis software package. An inductive approach thematic conducted. Results: piloted 66 months. Qualitative currently defies statistical appraisal beyond "data saturation," even if it has more influence on clinical practice than quantitative data. total 28 Six core themes emerged: awareness, control, decision-making, reassurance, communication burden treatment. There transcending overarching theme empowerment, which cut across all aspects the experience. Conclusions: Patient perception impact extremely positive. Patients felt empowered as product self-monitoring format TCUC, may be way improving self-management whilst also decreasing individual healthcare services.
