Amoebic perforation of the bowel: Experiences with 26 cases

摘要: Over a period of 14 1/2 years, 26 instances amoebic perforation the bowel occurring in 25 patients were treated surgically. Nineteen perforations occurred males and 7 females, whose ages ranged from 3 to 74 years. The duration symptoms varied 12 h up 5 months (average 15 days). All toxic right lower quadrant mass was present 14. correct diagnosis made or suspected (54 per cent). Amoebic should be presenting with an acute abdomen if past history fever, pain diarrhoea is obtained, particularly large tender iliac fossa. Resectional surgery performed patients, mortality 71 cent, whereas procedures designed divert faecal stream carried out 19, 43 cent. 6 concomitant liver abscesses died. If these are excluded, resections 60 cent diversion 27 Faecal wide drainage treatment choice for colon.
