摘要: Background Natural insecticides against the vector mosquito Aedes aegypti have been object of research due to their high level eco-safety. The water-soluble Moringa oleifera lectin (WSMoL) is a larvicidal agent A. aegypti. This work reports effects WSMoL on oviposition and egg hatching aegypti. Methodology/Principal Findings WSMoL crude preparations (seed extract 0–60 protein fraction), at 0.1 mg/mL concentration, did not affect oviposition, while gravid females laid eggs preferentially (73%) in vessels containing isolated (0.1 mg/mL), compared with only distilled water (control). Volatile compounds were detected preparation. hatchability fresh deposited solutions assay was evaluated. numbers hatched larvae seed extract, fraction 45±8.7 %, 20±11 % 55±7.5 respectively, significantly (p<0.05) lower than controls (75–95%). Embryos visualized inside control eggs, but within that maintained solution. Ovicidal activity also assessed using stored eggs. concentrations able reduce rate by 50% (EC50) 0.32, 0.16 for WSMoL, respectively. absence treated 0.3 (EC99) after transfer medium without indicates embryos killed WSMoL. reduction linked decrease bacteria population. Conclusions/Significance acted both as chemical stimulant cue ovipositing ovicidal given concentration. oviposition-stimulant activities, combined previously reported activity, make very interesting candidate integrated control.
