摘要: Background: The Norwegian Cervical Cancer Screening Program recommends screening every 3 years for women between 25 and 69 of age. There is a large difference in the percentage unsatisfactory samples laboratories that use different brands liquid-based cytology. We wished to examine if inadequate ThinPrep could be satisfactory by processing them with SurePath protocol. Materials Methods: A total 187 specimens from Department Clinical Pathology at University Hospital North Norway were sent Akershus conversion medium. Ninety-one (48.7%) processed through automated “gynecologic” application cervix cytology samples, 96 (51.3%) “nongynecological” automatic program. Results: Out had been ThinPrep, 93 (49.7%) after being converted SurePath. rate was 36.6% 62.5% run “gynecology” program “nongynecology” program, respectively. Of became SurePath, 80 (86.0%) screened as normal while 13 (14.0%) given an abnormal diagnosis, which included 5 atypical squamous cells undetermined significance, low-grade intraepithelial lesion, 2 glandular not otherwise specified, 1 cannot exclude high-grade lesion. 2.1% (4/187) got diagnosis cervical neoplasia or higher later follow-up. Conclusions: Converting can reduce number samples. should ensure adequate cells.
