摘要: Diatoms are among the most widely used indicators of human and climate induced wetland salinity history in world. This is particularly as a result development diatom-based models for inferring past salinity. These have primarily been developed from relationships between diatoms measured at time sampling or during preceding year. Although within site variation has potential to reduce efficacy such models, its influence rarely considered. Hence, diatom–conductivity eight seasonally monitored wetlands investigated. In developing transfer function these sites, we sought assess conductivity on diatom inference model performance. Our sites were characterised by variability that was not correlated range thus well suited an investigation this type. We found, contrary expectations, short-term (seasonal) changes which often dramatic did unduly reduced By contrast, more variable medium term (5–6 years) tended larger errors. addition, identified secondary ecological gradient data could be related any (including pH, turbidity nutrient concentrations).
