摘要: Knowledge of forest disturbance and successional processes, population dynamics forest-dwelling species, the interaction between these two, is a prerequisite for developing ecologically more sustainable management strategies. To address issues, conference entitled “Disturbance in boreal forests: restoration biodiversity” was held Kuhmo, eastern Finland, on 21–25 August 2000. The third one with general theme forests (Engelmark et al. 1993, Bergeron 1998). During one-week 108 talks 64 posters were presented, representing both basic ecological research applications this knowledge to biodiversity different parts circumboreal (Karjalainen Kuuluvainen 2000, Burton 2001). Twenty-six presentations appear as scientifi c papers following pages. 2 Disturbances, Heterogeneity, Biodiversity
