摘要: The third segment of the antennule cypris larva Balanus balanoides is modified as an attachment organ with a disk by which cyprid attaches to submerged surfaces. covered felt fine cuticular villi. Opening on are terminal branches cement duct, numerous glands and array sensory hairs. structures arthropod scolopidia dendrites giving rise cilia which, distally, change distal processes. It suggested that hairs situated in invaginations cuticle around margin function position receptors two setae lying away from mechanoreceptors. Three have suiting them for chemoreception; processes exposed exterior at tip hair. Two these positioned one centre disk. fourth segment, arises side organ, packed cell associated arising end; its movements controlled single muscle segment. A suction mechanism adhesion precluded there no could effect or release beneath act adhesive pad, villi increasing surface area antennular possibly secreting viscous substance. presence chemoreceptors indicates chemosensory operate during gregarious behaviour settling cyprids.
