摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter reviews the current knowledge available on action potential and ionic currents that generate potential. Most of about origin comes from work Hodgkin Huxley. It is noted that, Hodgkin-Huxley analysis, with a few modifications additions, even after 30 years provides suitable basis for describing macroscopic in giant nerve fiber squid. focuses (1) analysis by Huxley, (2) recent measurements parameters additional not contained original (3) reconstruction various excitation phenomena equations. The equations provided this allow to reconstruct membrane potential, propagated strength-duration curve, predict repetitive firing, account most significant features observed impedance measurements. are widely successfully used investigate characterize effects toxins drugs currents.
