摘要: Objective: Recent evidence suggests that the way in which individuals relate to their aversive thoughts predicts behavioural effectiveness more than content of such thoughts. This paper is among first explore whether this true for coping with stressful events. Method: Three studies emerging adults (Study 1, N = 202) and 2, 201 Study 3, 141) tested changes how stress-related thoughts, measured using individual-difference construct cognitive defusion, predicted approach less avoidance behaviour, controlling appraisals. Results: We found defusion (Studies 1 3) 2 following laboratory-induced stress 1), naturally occurring monthly 2), daily 3). These effects occurred independently threat appraisals 1-3) self-efficacy on responses.
