摘要: In an earlier work the ac conductivity of a plasma was investigated by means elementary model. The validity this model has been borne out rigorous treatment at thermal equilibrium. is now extended to include effects ion correlations for arbitrary fixed distributions. For equilibrium it found that shielding reduces maximum effective impact parameter factor (1 + Z)½ (i.e., both ions and electrons contribute shielding) frequencies low compared frequency ωp. high ωp, previous results obtain. resistance due excitation longitudinal waves just in excess ωp reduced Z)−1. However, if large‐amplitude (nonthermal) fluctuations are present, wave contribution may be greatly enhanced.
