A Concentration pdf for the Relative Dispersion of a Contaminant Plume in the Atmosphere

摘要: Observations of the dispersion a contaminant plume in theatmospheric boundary layer, obtained using Lidar, are analysedin coordinate frame relative to instantaneous centre massof plume. To improve estimates dispersionstatistics, maximum entropy inversion is used remove noise fromthe Lidar concentration profiles before carrying out analysis.A parametric form proposed for probability density function(pdf) concentration, consisting mixture betadistribution and generalised Pareto distribution (GPD). Thispdf allows possibility unimodal or bimodaldistribution, shown give satisfactory fit toobservations from range positions source. Thevariation fitted parameters with crossplume location isanalysed, possible found todecrease away centre.
