摘要: OBJECTIVE —To determine whether components of the metabolic syndrome precede 5-year incidence cardiovascular disease and diabetes. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS —A population individuals aged 43–84 years was evaluated from 1988 to 1990 again 5 later. Medical history, blood pressure, laboratory measures were obtained at both examinations following same protocols. Subjects without diabetes classified according level glycemia, high high-risk lipid levels, uric acid proteinuria baseline. History incident myocardial infarction, angina, stroke, follow-up. RESULTS —Of 4,423 subjects diabetes, 6.9% had elevated levels 18.4% 82.7% (either serum total cholesterol or low HDL ratio these two levels), 27% 33.2% BMI, 3.3% (≥30 mg/dl). The risk later increased with number present; 2.5% those one component developed disease, whereas 14.9% four more disease. Of component, in 1.1% later, 17.9% components. CONCLUSIONS —Components are common associated after years. Interventions alter pressure may decrease
