摘要: We examined the effects of Thymus vulgaris (common thyme) on associated vegetation in both its native and introduced range. compared local (within-community) landscape (among-community) species richness community composition between thyme-dominated communities France (native range) New Zealand (introduced range). From 7 sites (France) 10 (New Zealand), all plant present 20 Zealand, 25 France) randomly placed 100 cm × 50 cm quadrats were recorded. Local was determined by calculating mean richness/quadrat inside outside tested for significance with factors range across sites. Landscape scale differences comparing total thyme from ranges. Species analysed using similarity percentages. found microenvironments harbour more than without this pattern reversed decreasing richness. A higher percentage shared occurred to In ranges (except one) thyme-associated differed thyme. Native similar thyme, but most These results suggest thyme’s ecosystem engineering consequences are context-dependent. Thyme may filter out competitive that could negatively impact range, when a disturbed novel biogeographic region, reduces
