摘要: The Fluidyne liquid piston engine is a simple free-piston Stirling that can be made from nothing more than some lengths of tubing. pistons are liquid, so they always fit the cylinder exactly with no need for machining, close tolerances, mechanical seals or bearings. On other hand, in its simplest form operates at to atmospheric pressure, and low frequency - typically 1/2 1 Hz. Consequently, power density low, large machine needed if substantial output required. These factors, along convenience which adapted pumping, have defined main fields potential application. Most interest far has centered around use Fluidynes pump water, particularly irrigation drainage pumping developing countries specialized circumstances where electric may not reliably available. However, as any machine, operated refrigerator heat several workers proposed exploiting this. Walker suggested helium cooler example, service superconducting computers could would contained driven by gas pressure variations outside cryogenic region. W. Martini demonstrated heat-actuated pump.
