摘要: Gas chromatography (GC) and mass spectrometry (MS) are powerful analytical techniques for the characterization, identification, classification of microorganisms. Using different variations or combinations GC MS, one can detect identify natural metabolic products cells, separate monomeric structural components, profile composition cells cell fractions, at a trace level presence bacteria using characteristic chemical markers. This chapter reviews basic instrumental aspects GC, particularly capillary MS from perspective microbiology.
