Tall claims?: Sense and nonsense about the importance of height of US presidents

摘要: According to both the scientific literature and popular media, all one needs win a US presidential election is be taller than one's opponent. Yet, such claims are often based on an arbitrary selection of elections, inadequate statistical analysis. Using data we show that height indeed important factor in elections. Candidates were their opponents received more votes, although they not significantly likely actual election. Taller presidents also reelected. In addition, were, average, much men from same birth cohort. The advantage candidates potentially explained by perceptions associated with height: rated experts as ‘greater’, having leadership communication skills. We conclude characteristic choosing evaluating political leaders.
