摘要: This paper examines the upward trend of numbers in receipt Invalidity Benefit (the major contributory benefit for long-term sick) Britain since 1971. Possible explanations include rising level unemployment through much period; heightened link between ill-health and early retirement; changes real benefits; composition workforce. These possibilities are examined using a variety methodologies: time-series, cross-section, fixed-effects models. Copyright 1991 by Royal Economic Society.
