摘要: Abstract The female hormone 17β-estradiol is postulated to be protective against schizophrenia onset and severity. Hypoestrogenism a common phenomenon in women with that has serious effects adds the burden of an already very onerous disease. cause hypoestrogenism largely attributed antipsychotic-induced hyperprolactinemia. Evidence suggest however significant portion patients develop either before antipsychotic treatment or without regard level prolactin, suggesting for sizeable segment patients, gonadal abnormality may innate early aspect This review aims summarise available literature examines dysfunction through this prism as well outline some recent developments strategies provide feasible ways successfully tackle schizophrenia.
