摘要: Nutritional or therapeutic compositions are provided for increasing ketone body levels in the blood of mammals by providing a source bodies form linear cyclic oligomers and/or derivatives 3-hydroxyacids. The 3-hydroxyacid can be oligomer 3-hydroxyacids other than homo-oligomers 3-hydroxybutyric acid if administered combination with acetoacetate, 3-hydroxyacids, esters oligomers, acid, and combinations thereof. An generally refers to polymer three more hydroxyacids. Preferred include 3-hydroxybutyrate, 3-hydroxyvalerate, 3-hydroxyhexanoate, 3-hydroxyheptanoate. Oligomers odd-carbon number such as 3-hydroxyvalerate have advantages since they higher energy content having an even-number carbons. advantageous properties result sustained, controlled, level over period hours. orally, example, nutritional dietary supplement, intravenously. Increasing is useful seizure control, metabolic disease reduction protein catabolism, appetite suppression, parenteral nutrition, cardiac efficiency, treatment diabetes insulin resistant states, effects neurodegenerative disorders epilepsy.
