We set out review published literature collate data clinical psychometric aspects DFI from its development in 1998–2012, order create single source reference for users DFI. A search was performed publications, including abstracts, describing use between 1998 2012. In total, we indentified 53 publications (37 full articles 16 abstracts) 50 studies. Only one study demonstrated test–retest reliability (r = 0·95). Three studies internal consistency, with Cronbach α ranging 0·85 0·90. Fifteen showed sensitivity change scores, significant differences baseline end study. Twenty-six correlated other objective subjective instruments demonstrate construct (convergent) validity. Seventeen validated translations have been used different countries (including two multinational studies). Nine assessed effectiveness five topical drugs probiotic supplement. Two care by dermatology nurses dermatologists. has revealed major QoL families strengths include wide international experience use, defined reliability, good change, Areas requiring further research creation score descriptors, assessment minimum important difference testing dimensionality, factor structure differential item functioning.
