摘要: Are women and men biologically destined to be in perpetual conflict? Does evolutionary genetics adequately explain sexual aggression? Such questions have been much debated both the media academia. In particular, notion that rape is an adaptation, put forth by Randy Thornhill Craig T. Palmer their book A Natural History of Rape (MIT Press, 2000), vaulted debate into national prominence. This assesses Palmer's ideas, as well critical responses work. Drawing on theory data from anthropology, behavioral ecology, biology, primatology, psychology, sociology, essays flaws limitations a strictly biological model rape. They argue traditionally stereotyped gender roles are grounded more culture than differing reproductive roles.The divided three parts. The first part, "Evolutionary Models Gender," addresses broad theoretical methodological issues sociobiology. Part 2, "Critiquing Evolutionary Rape," specific propositions Palmer, making explicit unexamined assumptions challenging scientific bases for conclusions.
