摘要: The pipevine swallowtail butterfly, Battus philenor, exhibits a diapause polymorphism in east Texas. Approximately half the offspring of first-blood females enter and remain pupal until following year. other ecloses to form second brood. Evidence is presented indicate that second-brood compete for oviposition sites. It deduced this competition causes fitness non-diapausers be frequency dependent: as proportion population increases, their decreases. A single-locus model showing type dependence can maintain stable presented.
