摘要: Cape fur seal (Arctocephalus pusillus pusillus) scats were sampled over a period of eight years (1994-2001) at Atlas and Wolf Bay colonies in order to assess the cephalopod component diet these seals diversity off coast Namibia. The temporal variation within was investigated. A low cephalopods, only six species, are preyed upon, with Todarodes angolensis being most important both numbers wet weight all years. Its lowered contri- bution during winter coincided greater other species diet, which showed higher proportional contribution relative angolensis. Scat sampling found be an unreliable method providing estimates total prey consumption by seals, but considered acceptable for comparisons, especially given ease scat collection extended periods.
