摘要: The effects of temperature acclimation and acute change were investigated in postprandial green shore crabs, Carcinus maenas. Oxygen uptake, gut contractions transit rates digestive efficiencies measured for crabs acclimated to either 10 1 Co r 201C subsequently exposed treatment temperatures 5, 15, or 25 1C. Temperature resulted a partial metabolic compensation unfed with higher oxygen uptake the 1C group test temperatures. Q10 values than normal, probably because prevented from fully adjusting new temperature. Both altered characteristics specific dynamic action (SDA). duration response was longer 20 inversely related scope (peak consumption) also trend towards an inverse relationship Since overall SDA (energy expenditure) is function both scope, it highest value at 15 decline total after exposure 5 suggests that cold stress limitations supply extremes could be affecting response. pyloric sac foregut region propel digesta through gut, contraction increased increasing This translated into faster Although had no effect on rates. threshold level needs reached before manifests itself there correlation between times shorter temperature, do not make good proxy calculating characteristics. efficiency showed decreasing temperature; slower lower allowing more efficient nutrient absorption. Even though higher, efficiency. occurred intracellular enzymes are modulated different control pathways. These results give insight physiology maenas as makes feeding excursions subtidal intertidal zones.
