摘要: An alternative to the modern UHV multiport surface analytic system is a transfer technique for intervacuum sample which maintains at (<10−9 Torr) all times. Major advantages are (1) economical use of available facilities by number experimentalists (2) instrument and standardization (3) complementary experiments remote specialized laboratories (4) preparation samples in (e.g., space shuttle or thermonuclear reactor) followed facility. Such has been built tested. Transfers currently take three four hours between nearby stations. Intercontinental transfers feasible using battery operated ion pump during transport. For must have suitable gate valve (35‐mm bore, 10−13 l s−1 helium closed conductance) platform capable accepting standard 22.8–mm‐diam ring, carries itself.
