Investigating the function of follicular subpopulations during Drosophila oogenesis through hormone-dependent enhancer-targeted cell ablation

摘要: Although it is known that the establishment of polarity during Drosophila oogenesis initiated by signalling from oocyte to overlying follicle cells, much less understood about role specific follicular subpopulations. One powerful approach for addressing this question, toxigenic cell ablation subpopulations, has not previously been applicable studying subpopulations because many genes and Gal4 enhancer trap insertions are expressed in ovary also at earlier times development. To overcome problem, we have utilized a fusion protein between human estrogen receptor achieve hormone-dependent, tissue-specific gene expression UAS-linked transgenes flies. We used system study polar cells expressing within them modified form diphtheria toxin causes death. Our results confirmed previous functions ascribed these demonstrated undescribed border facilitating migration anterior Fasciclin III-expressing pair edge oocyte.
