摘要: In this paper we explore early musical behaviours through the lenses of recently emerged ‘4E’ approach to mind, which sees cognitive processes as Embodied, Embedded, Enacted, and Extended. doing so, draw from a range interdisciplinary theoretical empirical research, engaging in critical constructive discussions with both new findings existing positions. particular, refer observational research by French pedagogue psychologist Francois Delalande, who examined infants’ first ‘sound discoveries’ individuated three different ‘conducts’ inspired ‘phases game’ originally postulated Piaget. Elaborating on such ideas introduce notion ‘teleomusicality’, describes goal-directed infants adopt play sounds. This is distinguished developmentally earlier ‘protomusicality’, based music-like utterances, movements, emotionally relevant interactions (e.g., primary caregivers) that do not entail focus sound itself. Such distinction - involves an ‘attentive shift’ occurring between 6 10 months age helps develop conceptual framework for development emphasises emergence exploratory, (i.e., sound-oriented), self-organized, actions infancy. line this, provide preliminary taxonomy teleomusical discussing ‘Original Teleomusical Acts’ (OTAs) ‘Constituted (CTAs). We argue while OTAs can be easily witnessed exploratory behaviours, CTAs involve mastery more specific complex chains central activity.
