摘要: Recondensed meteoric material, so-called smoke, has long been considered the main candidate for condensation nuclei mesospheric ice formation. Recently however, model studies have shown that smoke particles are transported away from polar region, where phenomena such as noctilucent clouds occur, before they can grow large enough to serve nuclei. In accompanying paper it is argued charging of may solve this dilemma by significantly altering efficiency present paper, feasibility idea investigated more quantitatively, analysing time scales processes charging, recombination, and particle growth. Despite uncertainties, especially in smallest particles, we show reasonable assumptions yield number densities charged consistent with what expected phenomena.
