摘要: In the last years several plant-derived natural compounds have been screened for their anti-HIV activity in order to find lead with novel structures or mechanisms of action. Among these, triterpenoids found exhibit an antiretroviral different this study effect two limonoids, limonin and nomilin, on growth human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) culture peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) monocytes/macrophages (M/M) is described. Limonin nomilin were inhibit HIV-1 replication all cellular systems used. A dose-dependent inhibition viral was observed PBMC isolated from healthy donors infected strain after incubation (EC (50) values: 60.0 microM 52.2 microM, respectively). The terpenoids inhibited at concentrations studied production HIV-p24 antigen even when employed chronically values 61.0 76.2 nomilin). Moreover, these M/M. system inhibitory significant 20 40 80 starting day 14 reached maximum 18 days incubation. As regards mechanism action, vitro protease activity. general, results obtained point out a similar indicating that not drastically influenced by structural difference between compounds.
