摘要: Recent work on episodes of hypersalinity in a subtropical east Australian coastal bay is reviewed. Hypersalinity response bays and estuaries to the local freshwater balance which fluctuates due variable rainfall, river run-off, evaporation. Longer lasting hypersaline conditions are likely consequence drying warming climate. The ocean changes hydrological cycle has been observed several systems, including persistent drought resulting increased salinity more frequent conditions. In addition observing Hervey Bay off central Queensland coast, first modelling experiments indicate that frequency during last twenty years. Coastal regions important nurseries for fisheries impact below average rainfall upon marine environmental yet be assessed. This indicates routine monitoring essential order evaluate future impacts climate change.
