摘要: Aquaculture of native species appeals to conservation projects in developing countries. It promises raise local incomes while taking pressure off stocks, without the risks associated with introducing exotic into an area concern. We consider case freshwater crayfish Madagascar, a proposed target for aquaculture. suggest three questions which should be considered by programme considering investment such project: 1) are available likely biologically suitable aquaculture? 2) is aquaculture profitable relative other land uses? 3) would successful reduce wild harvesting?
