摘要: The primary function of roots is to provide water and solute (primarily mineral ion) transport from the soil shoots plants. Water uptake ecologically important because it universal solvent for all biochemical reactions. Also, constantly needed replace loss by transpiration. Transpiration a necessary ecological cost gas exchange carbon gain. Rather little known about pathway movement in mechanism uptake. Even less comparative ecophysiology between species. A few instances are discussed Section 5.6 this chapter rather more can be learned recent review aspects root permeability (Nardini et al. 2002). Hence, will concentrate primarily on roots.
