摘要: Copper corrosion in alkaline solutions is inhibited by the formation of self-assembled monolayers aromatic thiols, made either benzenethiol or 2-naphthalenethiol 4-acetamidothiophenol. Electrochemical experiments, based on voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy, point out much lower reactivity copper surfaces towards oxidation, when covered compact adlayers above molecules bonded through S atom. The peculiar shape peak position voltammetric reduction residual oxides grown modified metal suggest that they are due to Cu(I) suboxides, probably reactive defects. XPS experiments have confirmed still covering most Cu surface even after 1 h immersion 0.5 M NaOH. main changes Auger XP spectra indicate less Cu2O protected samples than corresponding bare aged From experimental data presence defective has been deduced.
