摘要: Medullary thyroid cancer (MTC), an uncommon neoplasm stemming from the calcitonin-producing parafollicular C cells, represents approximately 5% of cases. Unique among all types is close association MTC with inherited tumor syndromes in about 20% patients. Activating mutations ret proto-oncogene account for hereditary basis and contribute significantly to sporadic development as well. These findings have a major impact on diagnosis therapy MTC.
