摘要: Lay participation in health care decision making has attracted increasing interest Canada, with numerous provincial government reports advocating this initiative. Interest stems from a number of factors. Among them is growing recognition that patient preferences ought to be incorporated into involves individual treatment choices. Another factor the desire increase public accountability for decisions on allocation resources, order make providers more accountable communities they serve. There is, however, still considerable confusion over what lay really means. In addition, little consideration been given whether and how can lead better criteria by which it should judged. This article presents framework based decision-making domains, role perspectives, levels intended as an initial step toward providing greater conceptual clarity regarding key dimensions goals making.
