摘要: Due to increases in congestion, transportation costs, and associated environmental impacts, a variety of new enhanced transit strategies are being investigated worldwide. The transit-oriented development (TOD) concept is key area where several can be implemented. TODs integrate transit, residential, retail and/or commercial entities into compact, pedestrian-friendly community, thereby reducing private car usage increasing use. This research report addresses two within the TOD framework: 1) using Bus Lanes with Intermittent Priorities (BLIPs) enhance bus transit; 2) addressing how what Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) technology used system architectures. With respect 1), it has been shown that implementation BLIPs for rapid greatly increase efficiencies without compromising level service other facility users. basic analysis this shows both conservative liberal approaches have similar impacts traffic identical benefits. macroscopic illustrates disturbances caused by BLIP activation will not slow down subsequent buses, roads medium demand easily support implementation. microscopic provides some quantitative equations help decision makers determine whether given intersection outfitted predefined parameters. A framework cost-benefit was provided 2), efficiency effectiveness certainly integration ITS technology. project identified bundles architectures greatest potential mobility. Further, demonstrated technologies implemented well-integrated fashion promote convenience lead beyond levels currently observed.
