摘要: Correlation between isophotal and physical parameters suggests that elliptical galaxies are divided into two main classes: the ‘boxy’ Es, which likely result of a strong environmental evolution (mergers), ‘disky’ represent continuation SO sequence toward vanishing disk-to-bulge ratios. The latter class is quite common. detection disks, order 40%, depends strongly on ratio inclination angle; statistical considerations indicate about 50% disks go undetected.
