摘要: Scanning tunnelling microscopy has been used to obtain images in the constant-current mode air and moist conditions at molecular resolution for kappa- iota-carrageenan algal polysaccharides. The molecules were deposited from an aqueous solution onto a graphite substrate. samples formed aligned nematic-like arrays also found as individual molecules. dimensions of width, height repeat distance along molecule be close values previously determined by X-ray diffraction. results support model based on double-helix structure carrageenan.
