Global sustainability: Toward definition

摘要: Sustainability is increasingly viewed as a desired goal of development and environmental management. This term has been used in numerous disciplines variety contexts, ranging from the concept maximum sustainable yield forestry fisheries management to vision society with steady-state economy. The meaning strongly dependent on context which it applied whether its use based social, economic, or ecological perspective, may be defined broadly narrowly, but useful definition must specify explicitly well temporal spatial scales being considered. Although societies differ their conceptualizations sustainability, indefinite human survival global scale requires certain basic support systems, can maintained only healthy environment stable population. A clearer understanding sustainability appropriate indicators status systems would provide framework for policy making.
