摘要: Objectives The aim of the study was to provide preliminary evidence a unique "tinnitus magnitude" domain describing intensity tinnitus perception that will assist in development cognitive-behavioral mediation model psychological distress associated with tinnitus. Design A sample 347 participants previously recruited from four audiology clinics for purpose developing measure, Tinnitus Functional Index (TFI). From questions used TFI development, potential magnitude items were selected by including those minimally overlapped reactions. three having least overlap analyzed retrospectively assess internal consistency, test-retest reliability, group differences using demographics and tinnitus-relevant descriptive variables, discriminant validity. three-item scale developed an effort establish prospective Magnitude (TMI) would variables independent reactions Results Internal consistency (α = 0.86) repeated measures tests (r 0.74, df 29, p 0.70) as compared moderate correlations. Conclusions This involved retrospective analysis data originally evaluated use outcome questionnaire. conducted TMI. this suggest TMI can be reliable valid measure overlaps content cognitive, behavioral, emotional fully validated is not confounded or general depressive symptoms useful testable due Although primary goal develop predicts tinnitus, may also have utility assessing construct clinical settings.
