摘要: The vascular access is the lifeline for hemodialysis patient. Previous national guidelines have emphasized placement of arteriovenous fistulas in most patients. However, new Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative access, soon to be published, will focus on a patient's end-stage kidney disease "life plan" and take patient "first" approach. One major themes selecting "right right patient, at time, reason". Given availability advances biomedical technologies, techniques, devices field, this shift more patient-centered approach presents unique opportunities individualize solutions care patients requiring dialysis access. This review article address 3 potential areas where there an unmet need care: (1) biological approaches improve selection therapies, (2) post-transplant (3) disparities race, gender, elderly
