摘要: The observations to be recorded in this Paper were commenced March, 1905. They originated an attempt find a general method for rearing marine larval forms. Several investigators had previously succeeded Echinoderms, Molluscs, and Polychaetes from artificially fertilized eggs under laboratory conditions, but the process was generally difficult results more or less uncertain. most promising seemed that adopted by Caswell Grave (26), who able rear his larvae feeding them on diatoms. obtained diatoms placing sand, collected sea bottom, aquaria using such as developed material. All methods, however, suffered uncertainty of not knowing what organisms introduced into which larvse reared, either original sea-water along with food-supply.
