摘要: Patient decision aids (PtDA) are developed to facilitate informed, value-based decisions about health. Research suggests that even when informed with necessary evidence and information, cognitive errors can prevent patients from choosing the option is most congruent their own values. We sought utilize principles of behavioural economics develop a computer application presents information conventional in way reduces these errors, subsequently promoting higher quality decisions. The Dynamic Computer Interactive Decision Application (DCIDA) was target four common impede making PtDAs: unstable values, order effects, overweighting rare events, overload. Healthy volunteers were recruited an interview use three PtDAs converted DCIDA on equipped eye tracker. Participants first used PtDA, then version. User testing assessed based whether respondents found software both usable: evaluated using a) eye-tracking, b) system usability scale, c) user verbal responses ‘think aloud’ protocol; useful: preferences for options changed, decisional conflict scale. Of 20 participants study, 11 male (55%), mean age 35, 18 had at least high school education (90%), 8 (40%) college or university degree. Eye-tracking results, alongside scale score 73 (range 68–85), indicated reasonable degree DCIDA. think aloud study suggested areas further improvement. also appeared be useful wherein subjects focused more features important them (21% increase time spent focusing feature). Seven (25%) changed preferred Preliminary results suggest has potential improve patient decision-making. Next steps include larger studies test individual components feasibility real
